Carleton University Migration Project

Completed: September 19, 2009  //  Web Portfolio

About the Project

In January of 2009 I accepted a position at Carleton University in the Computing and Communication Services division, joining the Web Project Team. My main task was to oversee the migration of 26 departmental and faculty sites away from a legacy content management system into a new custom one built with WordPress by lead developer Danny Brown.

After aiding in the testing of server security and stability we began the task of migration with a completion date goal of December 2009, but with the aid of hard working team members, we successfully completed the project in September, allowing me to join the other developers in setting up CMS site for those still using older Dreamweaver templates.

During the course of the migration into Carleton CMS, I also managed the majority of the WordPress software installations, upgrades as well as plugin upgrades and testing. While working with the lead developer and other team members, we added several new features to the CMS in an effort increase the functionality and provide the content editors and other staff and faculty with more powerful tools in a simplistic setup.
