A Spoonful of Sugar was born from a love of baking and is motivated by a desire to create unique, highly customized cakes primarily for weddings and other special events. A Spoonful of Sugar is owned and operated by icing wizard Andrea Flight and is based from her home in Nova Scotia.

Built upon WordPress, the primary focus of the site is to showcase the companies creative baking abilities and variety of ideas presented in a delectable format. The homepage uses a jQuery slideshow to present visitors with beautiful, high quality imagery of custom cakes upon entering the site, and has been setup to allow for easy navigation throughout the various informational and gallery pages.

The three main areas of baking services offered showcases an image gallery that is powered by a combination of the NextGen Gallery plugin and the Thickbox jQuery add-on.

To increase functionality, expanding menus were included to allow easy sub-dividing of content pages. The availability calendar allows visitors or potential clients to have a quick overview of dates that have yet to be booked, which is powered by the Events Calendar plugin.

Site visitors can also fill out a short form to request a quote for their desired baked good, or can ask general questions by filling out the contact form. Both form areas are powered by the cformsII plugin.
